Colorado Legislation-original

Local Matters

It’s easy to get caught up in what’s going on in D.C., the atrocities are splashed across the headlines every day, but do not forget to pay attention to what’s going on right here at home. Important bills are regularly making their way through Colorado’s legislature. It is critical to know what’s going on locally, and when to act. Here is your one stop shop for what’s going on in the Colorado legislature.

Note: the legislature is not currently in session. Stay tuned for important information upon their return to session.

In the meantime, here is what to watch.

National Popular Vote Bill

Are you as ticked off by the Electoral College as we are? Do you believe the winner of the national popular vote in all 50 states and the district of Columbia should be guaranteed the presidency? Check out the National Popular Vote Bill. If this passes in Colorado, we would agree to award our electoral votes to the candidate who wins the national popular vote. The policy would only go into effect if enough other states pass similar legislation to achieve a majority of the Electoral College. At least ten states already have this type of law on the books.

Sadly, this did not pass in Colorado in 2017 but, if this sounds like a good idea to you, contact your state Senator and Representative and tell them to support this bill when it comes through the legislature next year!
